Long long time since my last update! Which was quite depressing. Couldn't help it. It is a depressing thing to see a schoolmate pass so young.

Its been nearly 5 months since I started my job, and so far its been a learning journey all the way. Can't say I love every aspect of the job, but there are points when I feel that I'm helping to make a difference in the organisation, and that is when I feel like I am doing something useful. Of course, times will come when I feel like I'm just doing something for the sake of achieving some paper goal. But most of my frustration comes from people who are uncooperative or unwilling to take ownership of things under their purview. To them, if you shove something under the carpet deep enough, it might just not surface until you are well into your nth position.

Stayed late in office today to address some urgent issues. While its tiring, I think this area of work is rather more interesting compared to some others I have come into contact with. I must say my boss is someone who will provide you the chance to try out different things, but you have to make sure you do a good job, if not that would just reflect even more badly on you. I feel I'm still rather dependent on him, hopefully because I'm still learning the ropes - almost every week I come into contact with a new type of issue. We'll see how things go. As long as I feel like I'm learning something and that I'm contributing to the organisation, I will see a reason to stay. While the current place doesn't completely suit my interests, there are enough chances for me to train myself and see how far I can go.

Though I do hope to not stay past 7pm in office everyday! Sigh. At least I don't stay in for lunch.
